Her role as CFO extends beyond traditional finance, encompassing a strategic leadership position that includes oversight of human resources and corporate administration to ensure integrated business operations and sustainable growth.

With more than 20 years of financial management experience, Ms. Harrigan most recently served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance at Foundation Source. Prior to that, she held key roles at Fortress Investment Group and United Technologies Corporation. FAIRFIELD, Conn.,Foundation Source, the leading provider of philanthropic solutions for donors, nonprofits, institutions, and the wealth advisors who serve them, has been named a 2025 WealthBriefing Wealth for Good award winner in two categories: Thought Leadership (Americas) and CEO: Technology (Americas). These awards recognize Foundation Source’s powerful combination of modern, cloud-based platforms and professional services, including specialized administrative, compliance, tax, and program guidance that enables the firm to provide comprehensive philanthropic support at scale. It also underscores the value of innovative and dedicated leadership.

Foundation Source’s deep domain expertise has helped shape the firm’s extensive technical and educational resources, complementing its technology suite and empowering advisors across the industry to provide meaningful and timely philanthropic guidance. These insights and tools equip advisors to initiate client conversations around giving, evaluate charitable vehicles, navigate the nonprofit landscape, integrate philanthropy into legacy planning, deploy charitable capital effectively, and measure impact.

Foundation Source CEO Joseph Mrak III has led the firm through several strategic acquisitions to build and expand enterprise-grade solutions that help wealth managers and wealth enterprises seamlessly integrate philanthropy into their offerings. In April, it acquired Giving Place, a software platform for family office giving programs and private foundations. Last year, it acquired Vennfi, the fintech powering donor-advised fund sponsor Charityvest, and PG Calc, the leader in planned giving software and services. Under Mrak’s leadership, the firm has developed a robust range of technology, administrative, and consulting services across private foundations, donor-advised funds, and planned giving, ensuring that professional advisors can help their clients drive impact in the ways that are most important to them.

“We’re honored to be recognized for equipping wealth managers with the tools, guidance, and confidence they need to meet the rising demand for philanthropic planning with precision and scale,” Mrak said. “We see enormous potential in helping firms differentiate through meaningful, values-based planning – and we’re excited to lead that evolution.”

“This year, we have seen a marked increase in entrants and interest in all our global awards programs, and the WealthBriefing Wealth for Good Awards is no exception. These awards give organizations and individuals the opportunity to clarify their strategic thinking, have it independently validated, be recognized internally and externally, and to celebrate in style with their peers,” said Stephen Harris, ClearView Financial Media’s CEO and publisher of WealthBriefing. “I offer my congratulations and best wishes for the future to all winners and highly commended firms – they are all worthy recipients who join the prestigious list of wealth management professionals who form the global elite of WealthBriefing winners.”

FAIRFIELD, Conn., — (NEWS WIRE) — Foundation Source, the leading provider of philanthropic solutions for donors, nonprofits, institutions, and the wealth advisors who serve them, today announced it has acquired Pacific Foundation Services (PFS), a foundation management organization based in San Francisco providing philanthropic strategy, grants management, and enhanced accounting support to some of the Bay Area’s largest foundations. The transaction reinforces Foundation Source’s position as the nation’s premier provider of foundation management services and increases its charitable assets under administration to nearly $40 billion. It also boosts annual deployment of charitable funds to more than $2.7 billion.

PFS’s unique capabilities complement Foundation Source’s flagship tech-enabled offering for private foundations and their advisors, allowing the company to better serve large, complex foundations. The acquisition also allows PFS clients to leverage modern, cloud-based tools that help make giving easier and more cost-effective and access a wider range of philanthropic solutions including specialized legal, compliance and tax support.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the talented and dedicated team at Pacific Foundation Services to Foundation Source,” said Joseph Mrak III, CEO of Foundation Source. “Together, this integration enhances our collective ability to support private foundations and their advisors with deep, strategic insight, sector knowledge and tailored guidance. With our best-in-class technology, we offer a uniquely comprehensive solution for mission-driven organizations that want to maximize impact.”

The combined organization will offer an extensive range of philanthropic advisory services, including program strategy and design, and a set of services to deepen grantee relationships including sourcing and diligence of grantees, application support, grant structuring and impact measurement. Following the transaction, the CEO Charles R. Casey joined Foundation Source in a new leadership role along with the entire PFS team.

“We are both mission-driven organizations focused on streamlining operations to amplify impact and building trusted relationships with our clients and their grantee partners,” said Mr. Casey, CEO of Pacific Foundation Services and incoming President of Premier Foundation Services at Foundation Source. “This partnership marks an exciting new chapter – one that enhances the giving experience for our clients and has the potential to leave a lasting and positive impact on the sector.”

The acquisition follows several recent transactions as part of Foundation Source’s long-term growth strategy. In April, the company acquired Giving Place, a software platform for family office giving programs and private foundations. Last year, it acquired Vennfi, the fintech powering donor-advised fund sponsor Charityvest, and PG Calc, the leader in planned giving software and services. Foundation Source is the only provider to deliver a suite of enterprise-grade technology, administration, and professional services across private foundations, donor-advised funds, planned gifts, and workplace giving making it the partner-of-choice for comprehensive philanthropic solutions.

“Pacific Foundation Services is a highly strategic addition to Foundation Source. It meaningfully expands our reach among large private foundations and strengthens the depth of programmatic and grantmaking support we can offer,” said Lizzie Wintle, Director at GTCR. “It’s our fourth strategic acquisition in 18 months and the combined platform is uniquely positioned to serve the evolving needs of the sector with scale, expertise, and impact.”

Colchester Partners served as an advisor to PFS in the transaction, which was completed on June 4, 2025. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

FAIRFIELD, Conn., Foundation Source, the nation’s largest provider of scalable PhilTech solutions across private foundations, donor-advised funds and planned giving, today released The Growing Power of Giving: An Outlook from Foundation Source CEO Joe Mrak, which analyzes recent charitable giving activity and outlines the salient trends that will impact the philanthropic ecosystem in 2025.

Generosity in 2024 has been impressive to date. Foundation Source’s private foundation clients have granted more than $865 million to nearly 19,000 recipients through the end of September, on pace to match or exceed giving in previous years. The firm predicts that the combination of market performance and the high volumes of grantmaking that occur in November and December will generate strong overall giving for the year. As clients get their final dollars out the door in 2024 and plan their giving for 2025, Foundation Source is watching:

  • The growing popularity of organized giving and the power of a varied philanthropic toolkit
  • The rising influence of the next generation and the ways they are redefining philanthropy
  • The potential of advanced technologies to tackle challenges and make giving easier

“It’s an exciting time for the philanthropic sector. The rise of organized philanthropy, the aspirations of the next generation of givers, and the potential for technology all promise to make charitable giving easier and more efficient for donors, nonprofits and charities, and the financial advisors and institutions serving them,” said Mrak.

To further support year-end generosity, Foundation Source has also released its annual Guide to the Giving Season with a kit of resources for donors, advisors, and fundraisers to inspire creative, thoughtful and tax-wise gifts during the final months of 2024 and beyond. The guide offers extensive data, expert insights, and practical tips to help plan and deploy gifts strategically.

“We are inspired by the volume of activity we have seen during the giving season so far and we hope these resources will help further boost impact,” Mrak said. “We remain committed to empowering people and companies to create a better world through philanthropy and look forward to enhancing and expanding the way our clients can give in 2025.”

The full 2025 Giving Outlook can be viewed here and the 2024 Guide to the Giving Season resources are available here.

FAIRFIELD, Conn., — (PR NEWSWIRE) — Foundation Source, the nation’s largest provider of cloud-based solutions for private foundations and planned giving, today announced it acquired Vennfi, the financial technology company powering Charityvest, an industry-leading donor-advised fund (DAF) sponsor. Foundation Source will harness the DAF functionality to deliver modern giving experiences and create new opportunities for innovation and growth in the philanthropic sector.

“With this acquisition, Foundation Source can now offer a DAF platform with an intuitive and frictionless user experience that sets a new industry standard for technology innovation,” said Joseph Mrak III, CEO of Foundation Source. “This strategic acquisition is an important milestone in Foundation Source’s mission to make giving easier and more impactful, and we’re excited to make these philanthropic solutions widely available to help people and companies drive change.”

The deal will broaden Foundation Source’s suite of offerings and accelerate the delivery of giving solutions across the wealth management industry through a turnkey private label platform that will make offering and administering a donor-advised fund easier and more efficient for DAF sponsors, broker-dealers, independent RIAs and other financial services organizations. The acquisition also includes a workplace program that allows employers to streamline corporate and employee giving efforts.

“As financial advisors and wealth management firms look for ways to differentiate themselves beyond traditional investment advisory expertise, a full set of philanthropic capabilities is essential for holistic client engagement,” Mr. Mrak continued.

Through this transaction, Foundation Source reinforces its position as the leader in philanthropic technology, administration, and professional services. Building on its market-leading suite of capabilities, Foundation Source will be the only provider to deliver scalable, end-to-end digital solutions across private foundations, planned giving, and donor-advised funds, making it the optimal choice for professional advisors, and financial institutions serving wealth management and private banking clients.

“Our organizations share a commitment to provide wealth managers and their clients with easier access to collaborative giving tools and resources,” said Vennfi CEO, Stephen Kump. “After a highly collaborative and exploratory process over many months, it became clear that, together, we can catalyze more giving by making it more accessible, secure, and efficient for more people. We are enormously excited to join the Foundation Source team to unlock even more purposeful giving in the years ahead.”

The Charityvest DAF program was launched to the public in December 2019 as a partnership between Vennfi, a financial technology company, and Charityvest, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity and donor-advised fund sponsoring organization. Following Foundation Source’s acquisition of Vennfi, Charityvest, Inc. will continue to operate as a separate, independent entity, managed by its own Board of Directors. Foundation Source technology will power the Charityvest DAF program, the turnkey DAF platform, and the workplace giving program.

“We are grateful for the past partnership with Vennfi and look forward to working closely with Foundation Source to harness additional capabilities to help our donors give more, and give more purposefully,” said Paul Glyer, Secretary of Charityvest, Inc.

The management team of Vennfi, led by Mr. Kump, will join Foundation Source, contributing their expertise and insights to sustaining a world-class client experience and the continued expansion of the combined entity.

Earlier this year, Foundation Source announced the acquisition of planned giving software and services leader, PG Calc, as part of its growth strategy to build a single platform for a wide range of flexible, popular, tax-advantaged resources that make giving easier.

The transaction was completed on October 17, 2024. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
