FS-slashes-white-version-25x I listen to all types of music…hip-hop, classical, oldies, country, indie, folk, and on and on, and I love going to concerts any chance I get.

FS-slashes-white-version-25x My five kids, Jorge, Travis, Harrison, Isabela, and Miranda are my favorite people and being their mother is my favorite job of all time and always will be (sorry Foundation Source).

Jennifer Yoguez

It’s time for another Featured Friday—a special series where we pull back the curtain and introduce you to one of the amazing employees at Foundation Source. We recently talked to Jennifer Yoguez, director of client operations and payables, about her experience at Foundation Source. Keep reading to learn what it’s like to work on the client operations team!

When and why did you join Foundation Source?

I joined Foundation Source in September 2012 when my youngest of 5 children started preschool and I wanted to rejoin the workforce (outside of my home).

What do you love about working at Foundation Source?

My favorite thing about working here is the people I work with. Through the years, I have connected with some amazing colleagues—some who have mentored and supported my growth, others who I have mentored and helped to grow, and then just some really great people who make me laugh and smile.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is working on special projects and system enhancements. I absolutely love witnessing an idea be put into action and then seeing how a new process improves the way people do their jobs and spend their time.

What do you look forward to each day?

Each day, I look forward to using my knowledge, solving problems, and making progress on projects.

What does your job entail?

My job covers a lot as Director for a few teams that fall under the Client Operations umbrella. The Client Accounts Payable team (including EFT), Client Operations Specialists team and the newly formed Office Services team.

What is your team like and what has your experience been with company culture?

My teams are hardworking and collaborative. They work together and are always willing to help each other out. We have several people who are cross trained in different areas and can pitch in anywhere at any time. I find the company to have a “can-do” culture. I am surrounded by people with a common goal to get things done for our clients as accurately and efficiently as possible.

The best part of my job is working on special projects and system enhancements. I absolutely love witnessing an idea be put into action and then seeing how a new process improves the way people do their jobs and spend their time.

I hope to never become desensitized to the generous amounts of money that leave our office every day. It is important for me to stay connected to the mission and know that checks are more than just numbers on paper and the grant letters are more than just words and legal language neatly formed on a page.”

Jennifer Yoguez
Director of Client Operations and Payables

What has been your favorite project at Foundation Source?

My favorite project is one that is currently in the works. As part of the grant overhaul process, we will soon be able to access all grant docs in Admin and have them print out in the same order as the checks, simultaneously. This will be a huge timesaver for two teams! I do have to say though, that on top of the big projects, I really do just love the small projects that come from a small idea but yield big results and save lots of time. Thanks IT!

What has been your biggest accomplishment since joining Foundation Source?

My biggest accomplishment at Foundation Source is probably working with Estee and other colleagues to reorganize and create new teams and focus on the big picture.

How have you grown professionally while on our team?

While at Foundation Source, I have been given many opportunities to grow professionally. I started more than 11 years ago as a seasonal, part-time employee working three days a week for four hours a day to assist during the last quarter with the Client Accounts Payable team. Since then, I increased my hours and days worked, increased my knowledge, and then eventually became a full-time employee in a supervisor position for the Client Accounts Payable team. Fast forward a few years, and I am now a Director. Every day at work I am supported by an amazing COO and by the supervisors who manage these teams with me.

In your opinion, what makes Foundation Source special?

I think it’s the people that have been here since the beginning and believe in the vision of this company that make FS so special. This unique group of people along with the people who have joined over the last twenty plus years are the reason we have been successful and continue to improve and grow as a company.

What parts of Foundation Source’s mission do you connect with?

I love that we are all playing a small part in helping people create a better world through philanthropy. When I first started working at Foundation Source, I would read the grant letters and the hardship applications because I wanted to really understand my job and the impact of our clients’ giving. I hope to never become desensitized to the generous amounts of money that leave our office every day. It is important for me to stay connected to the mission and know that checks are more than just numbers on paper and the grant letters are more than just words and legal language neatly formed on a page.

What is a memorable client experience you’ve had or heard about?

A memorable client moment for me would be when someone from the sales team asked me to join a meeting with a potential premier client in case there were questions about our bank structure and how our payables work. The meeting went extremely well—the sales rep expressed their gratitude for my input and the client came on board! It was a win-win all around and I was happy to be part of the process.

What advice would you give to someone who doesn’t know about Foundation Source or may be thinking about joining the team?

I would encourage someone to join Foundation Source who is looking for a friendly and flexible work environment with opportunities for growth.

FS-slashes-white-version-25x I’m a wife and mom of two sons

FS-slashes-white-version-25x You can say I’m gaga about dogs

FS-slashes-white-version-25x I’m a nature and science geek

FS-slashes-white-version-25x I’m going to Greece in June

FS-slashes-white-version-25x I’m a pickleball junkie

Mary-Ann-Stover

Today is a bittersweet day for our team as we celebrate and honor our Sr. Vice President of Foundation Solutions Mary Ann Stover who is retiring from Foundation Source after 18 years. During her time with us, Mary Ann has held many leadership roles and made numerous contributions to the firm. Her experience, insight and institutional knowledge is unmatched and has helped strengthen our company’s position as a leader and expert in philanthropic solutions. But before we bid her adieu, we’re passing the mic to her one last time to share her unique perspective—including what she’s excited about for the company’s future.

What will you miss most about Foundation Source?

It has been gratifying every day of my 18 years at Foundation Source to know we are helping people to define and carry out their philanthropy. It now sounds like a cliché to say we’re a company that empowers change through philanthropy, yet that’s what we’ve been about before it became a tagline or sound bite. So, I will miss this mission, especially my colleagues and our shared commitment.

What’s your favorite Foundation Source memory?

I started at Foundation Source in its early days. My youngest son was just eight months old. The company and my son grew up together. My favorite memories relate to the journey of finding a balance and interconnectedness between the personal and the professional.

Today, we remain the only company with an end-to-end solution for private foundations. It’s exciting to see how Foundation Source will be leveraging this to grow and expand—all while prioritizing service.”

Mary Ann Stover
Sr. Vice President of Foundation Solutions

What was your biggest accomplishment at Foundation Source?

I’m most proud of how I showed up for others at Foundation Source and in our networks over these past 18 years. I believe our relationships matter most, so I have always wanted to be present and available to take the time to listen, think creatively about solutions and lend expertise. Along the way, people did the same for me. Ultimately, this paved the way for me to become the Chief Revenue Officer—a significant accomplishment.

As someone who has seen Foundation Source grow and evolve over the years, what do you think is the most exciting thing about the future of the company?

We came to market 24 years ago with a platform-powered service—a combination of people, talent and new technology. It’s hard to remember how the internet was barely a thing at that time. We had the vision and broke new ground. Today, we remain the only company with an end-to-end solution for private foundations. It’s exciting to see how Foundation Source will be leveraging this to grow and expand—all while prioritizing service.

Thank you, Mary Ann, for your dedication and leadership. We wish you a very happy and relaxing retirement!

What do you love about working at Foundation Source?

Foundation Source empowers people to create a better world through philanthropy, and what I love most about what I do is creating technology that supports our partners in giving to make a difference in the world.

What is the best part of your job?

Getting to work with amazing people who really care about what they are doing –and the positive impact their work has on others.

I look forward to knowing that today will not be the same as yesterday. As Director of Product Management for the backend financial systems, I work with several business departments on how we can improve our processing to be as efficient as possible and to add new features in the continually changing tax and legal landscape we face. I then work with the engineering team to provide the vision of what is required. From concept to implementation, I’m there every step of the way.

What is your team like and what has your experience been with company culture?

I work very closely with our sprint team to bring projects to fruition. It is made up of architects, development engineers and quality assurance engineers. The team is a very dedicated group of talented people. We meet daily and I’m always impressed with their great ideas and focus on producing a quality product. The #begiving culture is very apparent in our group. Everyone’s always willing to help out another team member with whatever they need.

What has been your favorite project at Foundation Source?

I think my favorite project is always the one I just finished. It’s kind of like when someone asks if you have a favorite child. They are all my favorites for one reason or another! But if I had to choose, it would be when I transitioned from supporting the client-facing systems to supporting the financial backend systems. Working for the first time on our annual tax season project meant I needed to fully understand our tax return system. It was very challenging to understand such a complex system but also very rewarding when it was complete, and all the tax returns were successfully filed!

In your opinion, what makes the Foundation Source team special?

The people are Foundation Source’s superpower! Everyone I have worked with is dedicated to doing the best they can for their clients and the company.

Happy Friday! In September’s Featured Friday edition, we talked to Scott Trowbridge, who gave us an inside look at what it’s like to be a Private Client Advisor at Foundation Source. Keep reading to learn about his experience and the advice he has for anyone who may be thinking about joining the team!

When and why did you join Foundation Source?

I joined Foundation Source in 2019. While I did not have a background in philanthropy, I was told that my customer service background would serve me well in the role. When I was interviewing for the job, I was told the people I would work with were fantastic. I have found that to be 100% true. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. We have a great team!

What is the best part of your job?

Having a client come to me with an idea, working with the client and our experts here at Foundation Source to shape the idea, and then seeing it come to fruition. It also feels good knowing I had a part in helping the client achieve their goal.

Interacting and working with energetic, passionate people striving to make the world a better place through philanthropy.”

Private Client Advisor

What does your job entail?

I provide support to our clients by receiving and responding to their questions and inquiries, working with them to achieve their goals, and bringing in the appropriate Foundation Source experts when called for.

What is your team like and what has your experience been with company culture?

My team is friendly, hardworking and helpful. We support each other and work very well together. Our shared goal is to provide an excellent customer experience.

How have you grown professionally while on our team?

As a Private Client Advisor, I work with many departments to assist my clients with their different questions, inquiries and ideas. Because of this, it is important for me to know which department to connect with and how. This has helped me to grow my organizational and prioritization skills.

In your opinion, what makes the Foundation Source team special?

All our departments work together to deliver a great customer experience.

What is a memorable client experience you’ve had or heard about?

I support a client that started their private foundation for the primary purpose of creating a scholarship program. In working with our client, as well as with my expert colleagues in our philanthropic advisory and legal services departments, the program was approved by the IRS and recently had its first recipient. While the program is in its beginning stages, it’s awesome to be involved from the start and to see the results as they happen!

What advice would you give to someone who doesn’t know about Foundation Source or may be thinking about joining the team?

Foundation Source is a great place to work. Our clients are passionate about their philanthropy, and so are we. While the environment can be high pressure at times, we are all working toward our shared goal of making a positive impact on our world.
